A Minnesota turkey company will be making TV history this year. Jennie-O has announced it’ll be participating in the 94th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which takes place on Nov. 26. According to the Willmar, Minnesota-based brand, they’ll be the first turkey company ever to have a float in the beloved parade.
Not only that, but they’re also running a contest to see who can come up with the best homemade, turkey-themed floats — with the winner scoring a free trip to the 2021 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. According to the Grand Fords Herald, the float which will be named Big Turkey Spectacular is in honor of Jennie-O’s 80th anniversary, with the company saying a turkey-themed float is a natural fit for a parade that happens on a day everyone associates with the bird.
he paper also says the float is being built in New Jersey, though how it looks — and who will be performing on it — are being kept secret until the big day. That’s not to say we can’t get a preview. Last week, Jennie-O’s Facebook posted a teaser video showing the float under construction.
